3 Mobile App Development Trends to Watch for in 2019

As we end the 2018 year, it is no secret that smartphone adoption is at an all time high peak. People are finally confident downloading apps, using smartphones and browsing the web with mobile devices. It is estimated there are nearly over 5 billion smartphone users worldwide.

We just celebrated our 7th year of business since our launch in 2011. We've seen so many shifts and trends in the mobile app development industry and thought we would share a few you will defiantly see in 2019 .

1: Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence

Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) offer great user experiences to people using software because it provides a much deeper use of the app or software. An example would be Alexa. She can learn your habits, understand your patterns, re-order popular items, shut your lights off and so much more. You can also control Alexa from your mobile app and sync everything together.

AI is a buzz word for now. We are on a brink of true AI and excited to see what comes in 2019. We have been experiencing a huge demand for ML / AI mobile apps from client requests and are exploring and currently building some unique projects as you read this article.

2: Huge Demand for Wearable and IoT Software Mobile Apps

Wearable technology is nothing new. In fact, it has been around as early as the 17th century when Chinese bean counters created a ring that allowed for complicated mathematical calculations. However, in recent years with the internet mainstream and more technology, so many more "things" are connected.

Your fridge is connected to a mobile app that allows you to thaw food faster. Your garage door can open and close with the touch of a button while you're miles away. You can control your home temperature from across the country. Our lives are only going to become more connected in 2019 and software and mobile app development are going to allow us to connect everything in one place. We also are going to see some very new technologies and ideas arise from the IoT wave and we can't wait to find out what they are.

3: Chat will Grow

Everything from chatbots to in app chat messaging will continue to grow. Snapchat, WhatsApp and Facebook Messanger are not the only app chat communication tools we have. Uber has a messaging platform within their mobile apps. We are noticing that chat is becoming segmented and fragmented based on the use case and purpose of the chat.

Our number three trend also relates to ML and AI, our number one trend, because these technologies will be implemented into chatbots that will allow artificial intelligence to chat with humans and performs tasks quickly.

Summing It Up

2019 will be a year we evolve as a software development agency. We will push the boundaries and tackle new challenges. We're excited to dive deeper into machine learning app development and push ourselves more in this upcoming year.

Let us know what you think about the trends and what you foresee coming up.
