Building a mobile app can seem overwhelming if it is your first time. We wanted to give you five things to consider when building your first mobile app. Also, you can watch the video above as well.
Let's just jump right into it.
Tip 1: Research Your Idea
Seems a little basic right? It is. But you won't believe how many people don't really research their mobile app idea before bringing it to our company. You have to understand that there are millions of mobile apps launched and there is no way possible that one developer or app company will know if your idea exists.
It is your idea and you should ultimately be responsible for finding out if it's a good idea or not. Our app development company will help you vet your idea, but again make sure that you do research.
Tip 2: Create MVP Feature List
So before you talk with a developer or company, make sure you create an in-depth idea or list of features you want for your MVP (Minimal Viable Product). The more information you have for us, the better and faster it will be to get an estimate over to you.
It would be very helpful to also create a wireframe to show and demonstrate user flow and features.
Tip 3: Find App Developers or An App Development Company (Cough....Grand Apps)
So now that you have your idea researched and you have built out your MVP list, you are ready to find the team to build it. There are many options like hiring an app developer company like Grand Apps, to hiring a freelancer to hiring an actual team that you manage in house.
There are many pro's and con's to all options (for another article) but you should research and weigh your options. Make sure you see their previous work and what they have done. Also don't just shop on price, because we will tell you that you get what you pay for. Trust us, we've experienced it all and have heard many client stories.
Tip 4: Budget Is Important - Make Sure You Have One
You need to understand that building a custom mobile app is not simple as a small website build. Custom software and custom app development can range from $40,000 - $100,000+ for just an MVP and take over several months. We want to let you know so you don't get sticker shock. You need to be serious about building your app or software before you even begin researching the idea.
We get many people with sticker shock and we understand that they just don't know. But just in case you read this before contacting us, we just wanted to make it known.
Tip 5: Project Length & Time
Again, usually custom mobile app projects take a decent amount of time from start to launch. You shouldn't expect to launch an app in under 30 days. So if you're pinched for time, you might want to wait. It's better to wait and get a solid product instead of rushing a platform and pushing into production.
Think of it like building a house. The more custom a house is, the longer it will take to build. That is the exact same thing with custom apps and software. The more features and more detailed it is, generally the longer it will take.
Summing It Up
So summing everything up, make sure you research more than just this article. Do some deep research and make sure that you understand what it takes to launch. If you have any questions, just let us know and we can help!
