Three Keys for Getting the Most Out of Your Social Media Investment

We’ve long established that business owners should leave their social media management to the experts. You can hire someone with marketing experience to help manage it in-house, or you could even hire a whole company to do it. But in either scenario, you need to make sure that these people know what they’re doing. If not, that’s a loss on an investment. To help you make sure you’re getting the most out of your social media managers, here are three things that you to need to look for in their posts.

Are they using high quality content?

If finding high quality content was easy, then everybody would be great at social media. But that’s not the case. You need to invest in quality content, like high-quality photos, graphics, and videos. Hire professional photographers to take great pictures or videos of your products. Make sure you or your managing company has graphic designers who can make cutting-edge graphics that will draw attention. Content is king, and if you have great content, you have the foundation for great marketing.

How often/what time are they posting?

If you’re not seeing the results you want, a good indicator may be the time and frequency that your social media managers are posting. Too many times, I’ve seen other social media managers post at eight in the morning, or posting three times within an hour span. There are peak times to post in the afternoon and eventing, and you should not be bombarding your followers with tons of content a day.

What kind of copy is in the post?

Twitter has a 140 character-limit, and whether it’s Twitter or Facebook, you should probably only use 100. If you’re social media managers are writing a paragraph’s worth of copy to go along with your content, customers will give you the classic TL;DR (too long didn’t read) and scroll past your post. You need short, concise copy, to deliver your message with precision.

With these tools in hand, you now know what to look for in a good social media manager, and to make sure your investment is secure.
